Inspired by the Western painting cannon, chaotic digital media, and my queer identity, I layer classical painting techniques with contemporary symbols to playfully weave queerness into art history. Each of my paintings invite the viewer to a world where high art meets pop culture. I create references for my paintings by photographing collages or dioramas I assemble from printed images, tape, and cardboard. These materials allow me to engage in a low-stakes process where I can focus on spontaneity and iteration rather than perfection. By blending art history and my contemporary mindset, I insert queer representation within both historical and contemporary art.
